In a time where many are looking for insight and direction, our Pastor is committed to building a beloved community.  He has a call and a mission to serve God's people that goes beyond the walls of the church.  Rev. William Marcus Small is a native of Elizabeth, New Jersey and is a product of the public and private schools of that area.  He is a double graduate of Virginia Union University, graduating from the college with a degree in Philosophy and Religion and with a Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology.  He has an earned Doctor of Ministry degree from The Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania with a concentration in Ministry to Marriage and Family Counseling.  Currently, Pastor Small is completing the needed requirements to become a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of New Jersey.  Pastor Small's religious training began at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hackensack, New Jersey.  Under the mentoring of the late Rev. Moses A. Knott Jr., Pastor Small came to understand the importance of the church in the lives of people.  Pastor Small set out on the path to continue that tradition when in college he acknowledged the call to ministry and was licensed and ordained at the Imani Baptist Church of Christ in East Orange, New Jersey under Reverend Knott's leadership and later became an Associate Minister on the ministerial staff at Imani.  Upon returning to New Jersey, Pastor Small held the position of Executive Minister at the Salem Baptist Church in Jersey City, New Jersey as well as the Director of the Salem Child Development Center, where over 200 children are enrolled in the nursery school and after school program.  In the fall of 2001, Pastor Small was called to be the undershepard of the Ebenezer Baptist Church.  He is currently working towards developing a committed, loving relationship between Pastor and people.  His calling and mission to do liberating ministry has been evidenced progressively throughout the Ebenezer congregation.  A visionary, Pastor Small has already witnessed the Ebenezer Baptist Church working faithfully towards manifesting God's love not only towards one another but also in the extended community.  Ebenezer's mission, with the power of God through Jesus Christ and under the leadership of Pastor Small, is to transform the lives of searching and lost souls and to share the gifts of the Ebenezer family to the glory of God by liberating lives in the Englewood community and beyond.  Pastor Small has been constantly active with several organizations such as the American Baptist Churches USA, the Baptist General Convention of Virginia, the NAACP, serving actively as the President of the Black Clergy Council of Englewood, Teaneck, and Vicinity and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Pastor Small is married to Cassandra Small and they are the proud parents of Taylor Akilah, age 11 and Malcolm Augustine, age 8.
